A few of my favorite things... .

hello my lovely notorious, knitterly friends. How goes it? It is cold and very autumny here today. Colorful with a chill in the air.  Brr....

It occurred to me this morning as I was planning how I wish my day would go ( the powers that be often have other ideas) that you probably do not know how many times a day/week/month that I think of you.

It is quite often. Take today for instance, I was thinking about you because our bumper stickers showed up yesterday and I really love them and am excited to share them with you. Also, today Shannon picked up our buttons!!! You are soo going to love these!  I met with Shannon for all kinds of sock club plannings. So today was probably a little more NSK thoughtful than most.

I think of you everytime I am brewing up new colorway stories since I am always thinking of what might work best for the club. I do this even if I have all the colorways planned for the year. If I think it would be wonderful for the club then I save it with copious design notes.

After each shipment I wonder and also worry a bit. I wonder  if everyone go their packages in a timely manner (Thank you USPS) and if you liked it and how you all are doing on the knitting. Are you enjoying the patterns and the color? Are the patterns easy enough to read. Were there any typos in the dyer's notes.

Shannon and Paula keep me updated and of course I check in here.

I think of you sometime when I am reading, listening to music or watching tv and something strikes my fancy as a good theme or color for the club. I have a little book on my coffee table that I make notes in because I know I will forget and that will make me a bit of a crazy person.

I have been thinking about you a whole lot in the past month because I am plannng the club for next year. It's our 11th year. The beginning of a new decade for us. I think it needs to resonate with that new chapter feel, since it is a new chapter for us. friends, with that in mind I have a question for you. (Please put your answer here in the comments to this post.)

What are a few of your favorite things? I mean I know we all love yarn and sock knitting. It's why we are here.

Anything.... The sky is the limit. Favorite songs, movies, stories, colors, books, people, animals, foods, moments... . You can even tell us why these things float your boat.

I'll start.

Maybe Shannon and Gail can chime in too.

Okay here goes.

One of my favorite things is a moment. I love to curl up in my big comfy chair in front of the fireplace with the lowest light possible for reading,a good book in my hands, a cup on the table beside me tea, and a kitty purring by my side. I especially like it either late at night or before dawn when the rest of the family is sleeping and it is still dark out. It's a bit romantic, very peacefu and nourishing.

Okay one other of my favorite things is that I love preserving. Jams, pickles, chutneys, sauces... . If it can be canned I'm all over it.

Also you are one of my faovrite things!!

Ok I'm stopping.

Your turn.

USPS and the Where's Waldo aspect of package delivery! dear NSK's as some of you know, because you have experienced it first hand, we have a bit of an USPS issue with our First Class packages. It is worse this year then it has ever been. Some of them seem to go the most round-a-bout way possible to get to their final destination. And there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which packages this happens to.

It's crazypants, where some of these packages go before they end up at their knitters homes. Every time this happens we go to our post master and quite honestly are met with a different explanation every time. What these explanations do have in common is that there seems to be a problen at the PDX hub they go to once they leave Scappoose. It seems disorganized at best. I do not know if the buck is being passed around from Scappoose to PDX but recently Paula was told that they have an influx of new worker bees and they typed in the zip codes wrong.

Both Paula and I are having a hard time swallowing this explanantion, because all the packages leave here with a bar code. There should be no typing. WTH?? I am going to meet with the PDX post master and try to get to the bottom of this problem. It is not fun for any of us to have our packages delayed and to watch them circle the country before landing on our doorstep. Super frustrating, especially when all of your NSK friends are getting their packages.

I apologize to all of you that have this experience with your sock club shipment. Paula and I have fits when this happens. It's not pretty.

While I beat my head against the wall that is USPS for an answer to this issue, I thought maybe we could have a little fun. Why not right? If life gives you a lemons, also ask for sugar and play a game.

We can even start now.

It's an easy peasy game.

If your package took a longer time than normal to get to you then, log into your account and look at your tracking for the July shipment.

In the comments section here tell us how long it took to get to you and all the stops it made before it landed on your doorstep.

There will be a prize for the NSK whose package took the longest route to get to her.

There will be a prize for the knitter whose package had the most stops even if the route was short.

There will be a prize for the longest amount of time.

We will let this run for a couple of weeks because believe it or not there are some of us still waiting on our packages.

I know.

Thank you for your patience!

Packing and Shipping and our first contest! Oh my!

We are all scheduled to ship out our first 2015 package tomorrow. PDF's will be up tomorrow. We will be printing the mailing labels today and stuffing everything into those lovely tyvek shipping envelopes and then, my firends, they will be zipping their merry way on to you!

While we are all patiently waiting for the GO so we can stalk our postal carriers here are a few practical informative things and then I'll tell you about our first contest.

1. The first thing is we have noticed over the years that sometimes these packeges take a long about route from the USPS sorting facility to you. It does not happen to all of them but it does happen to a few. We have filed a complaint with USPS about this and really have not heard anything back as to the why. We think it is becuase it is a bulk mailing and it overwhelms our little PO but that is just our opinion. We do have a new post master so we are hoping to get her imput this year if this happens again. In our experienc the packages to end up at your door they just take a wee longer to do so.

2. If this is your first year in the club the way to access your pdf's is here on the RSC site. See up in the left corner of the tool bar where it says RSC Home? The pdf's are there under 2015. If you are logged in then they will pop up and you can download, print, save and make notes in them. A s long as the sock club exist you will have access to the years you have been a member.

3. Logging in: You will need to log in to access your pdf's and to post or comment on the blog and to access the info in your account. Up in the Help section of the tool bar is the FAQS page with super helpful log in information. One of the most important pieces and is somehting that is a little confusing is that the RSC log-in is not the same as the log-in you rhave to the general Blue Moon site for purchasing yarn. So if you use your Blue Moon log-in you will get an error message. In our experience most of the log-in problems folks have is from using their Blue Moon log-in instead of the club one. As always any issue you have we are more thna happy to help with. Go to Contact in the tool bar and fire us off an email and we will do our best to help.

4. We had a lovely bumper sticker that was all set to be sent in this shipment. Unfortunately the printer made an error so we have sent it back to be redone and wil not get it back in time. Rather than hold up the shipment we will be sending it out in March.

5. Please read the dyer's notes, especially the ones in this first shipment. They include inforamtion like your discount code and other goodies that you need to know and also highlight your experience of the club.

6. These colorways are avialable to you only. After the shiipment goes out we will make it available to you on the Blue Moon website.

I am sure I have forgotten something that I wanted to let you know. Again you know where to find us.

Are you ready for our first contest?! I really look forward to this contest. So very many of you are talented in ways we don't all get to see and this contest gives us a chance to see one of those ways.

See that fun and lovely button on the right with the sock puppets in hats that says Notorious Sock KNitters 2014? Wel one of our very own designed that button for us all to use on our blogs and on Ravelry. Thank you again Bronwen!

Obviously we need another one for our Anniversary year 2015. I could have Jess or Cassie make one up for us but it is way more fun to see what our NSK's who are graphicly talented come up with.

Here are the paremeters"

1. It needs to have either NSK, Notorious Sock Knitters or Rockin' Sock Club on it somewhere.

2. It needs to have 2015 on it. It would be awesone if we could incorporate 10th Anniversary but I think that is too much on a small button.

3. It needs to be this size: 2"square. dpi at 350 a a jpeg (please)

Submitted to us at by February 20th. Please put the Button in the subject line of the email. Thanks!

Team Blue Moon will then choose 4 for you to vote on here on the blog. We will post them on February 24th . Voting goes until Feb. 27th.

The button with the most votes will be our 2015 Anniversary button. The designer receives a 200.00 gift certificate. We'll use the button here on the blog, on your blogs and on Ravelry.

Okay I think that covers things for now. I am going to grab a cup of my fav brew and head out to the barn to help out.

Welcome back to all of you wonderful NSK's who keep signing up for our sock knitting mayhem and Welcome to all of you who are new Nororious Sock Knitters. We are a wonderful community of knitters!

RSC 2015

 Hello my lovelies,

Just a quick note to let you know that sign-ups for this years (2015) are this coming Tuesday the 6th of January at 10:00 Pacific-time.

I don't know about you but I am super excited. I's excited over what we have planned for the year. I'm excited over the colorways and that they are just available to you. I'm excited to be working with Shannon and Kate and Gail. I'm excited about the desingers we get to work with. I'm thrilled to revisit where we;ve been as we waltz into this 10th year. I'm super duper excited over our project bag and swag. Shannon and I visited Rebecca right before the holidays and mapped out the design and it's so GREAT!!!! I know we are going to want all kinds of bags with this graphic on it.

We are going to take pictures and hopefully a video of the print process when we come to that part so you can see.

Anyway... I'm hope you are excited as I am and that you'll join us for our Anniversary year!

Paula would like me to remind you of a few things for sign-up day.  The most importnat one is that your RSC log-in is not the same as the one you use when ordering on the Blue Moon site. Very important piece of info that will keep frustration at bay.

Also please carefully read and follw the directions for redeeming gift certificates. You can find that info here in FAQS.

As always if you need help we are here. Paula will be manning the phone and both Paula and I and the techies will be avialable by emial should you have a question or need our assistance.

Lastly I was taking some pictures for a homepage shot, so I drug out our tub of sock club socks. Holy cow that is a whole lot of socks! An impressive amount of socks and sock knitting don't you think?

so very many socks. (And that isn't even all of them.)

Look what we've done!!

Happy New Year dearest NSK's!!
