Hello everyone,

I hope we are all having a good beginning to our weekends; I know I am! Karen is here for the weekend and we are going to plan all the colorful wonderful things.Smile

Okay so unless you are International or Canadian then you should have your yarn. The Portland USPS hub is having some issues, evidently, so your packages might have gone on a little walkabout before arriving in your mailbox. We have noticed this with other non-sock club related packages as well.

If you read the Dyer's Notes and saw the tags you know that this colorway is nameless right now. Colorways do not like to be nameless for long (who does, really?). So it's time to NAME THAT COLORWAY.

Which means your first mission of the year ('should you choose to accept it') is to name this stellar colorway. Do you love it? I really do!!

If you have an idea for what we should call it, then please respond in the comments here for us all to see. Then Team Blue Moon will choose our favorite!

After we choose we will also randomly pick two of you who took the time to play along to win one of these lovely bags with cool stitch markers that our talented designer Laura made for you!!! Isn't she awesome!!!

Let's see -- you have until April 20th to submit your name idea. Any story or thoughts you have to go along with it would also be good! Then by the 25th we will choose the name and the two winners!

Sounds good and fun?! I think so. I am excited to see what you come up with. You all are some of the most creative people I know, so I do have high expectations!!

Have a great weekend my friends.

Trailing clouds of glory.

This is from Intimations of Immortality by William Wordsworth.
"Not in entire nakedness do we come
But trailing clouds of glory"
He's speaking of the birth of a child, but it could just as easily be the birth of a star.

The Southern Cross (dominant constellation here in Upper Antarctica) is properly know as Beta Crucis or Becrux. Becrux sounds pretty good! Its other name is Mimosa.

Otherwise I’m thinking Andromeda or Horsehead Nebula. Or even Dark Matter!

Thanks for all the fish.

I really need to reread that book.

Thanks For All the Fish

Lori - OMGosh I LOVE your suggestion!! All the suggestions are brilliant but no matter what it's named, I may always think of it in my heart as Thanks For All the Fish :)

the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

(one of my favorite poems - can't wait to see the yarn!!!)

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

“Crab Nebula” I saw a picture of it while I was doing web research on galaxies, and it had all the lovely colors that our skein does as well. Though prior to that I was thinking “Stellar Remnants” could be fun too. I’m loving all the sci-fi references as well!

Chaos in Your Soul (or Chaos

Chaos in Your Soul
(or Chaos in My Soul)

As in, "You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star."

It's one of my favorite quotes, especially as the mama of a two year old we've nicknamed Agent of Chaos. It reminds me that good things come from challenging things, which seemed appropriate given all the difficulties you had to get through in order to dye this yarn.

Thor’s Helmet

The colors immediately reminded me of Thor’s Helmet, which is a recent photo of a cosmic cloud that was featured on Astronomy Picture of the Day.

I’m a comic book nerd, which is why I remembered the photo, but the colors in my skein match the photo so perfectly that I couldn’t deny the connection.

Ruby peacock or moody peacock. Both of these whisper the colours softly and hauntingly to me.....

I suggest Alderaan, the “blue-green” home planet of Princess Leia. Seems an appropriate planetary base for the launch of our voyage into the galaxies....and a lovely tribute to one of the greatest space heroines ever.

Spacewalk Couture

A name to commemorate the cancelled all-female spacewalk due to an inadequate number of properly sized spacesuits.

So many great suggestions already! Hmmmm.... I haven't actually received my package yet here in Ottawa, Canada, (apparently it spent last week in Los Angeles according to the tracker), but it looks lovely from the photos in the Dyer's Notes. My first impression was that the colours looked like those of the aurora borealis, which I always find to be awe inspiring on the rare opportunities that I have had to see it. So my first vote would be for Aurora.

My second impression was that it reminds me of being up at my parents' cottage. I love to go outside on a clear night and sit on the dock in the dark just looking up at the stars. Because there isn't really any light pollution affecting the view, you can actually see the Milky Way, with the occasional shooting star going by (the Perseid meteor shower in August is awesome!), and if we are really lucky the aurora borealis. And if the lake is really calm, it is all reflected in the water around me, so you really feel like you are floating in the stars. Add in some loon calls, and it is just magical. Star gazing is one of my favourite things to do at the cottage, and I feel extremely lucky to be able to do that. So my other, and definitely preferred option for a name, would be Star Gazer.
